Mid Western Forestry Services, based in Abbeyfeale is now one of the largest private forestry companies in Ireland and specialists in the fields of farm forestry and private forestry investment.  We have pioneered several new developments in forestry establishment and maintenance in Ireland, and regard ourselves as the standard setters within the industry.  The ultimate judges of our capabilities – the forestry customer – have given us their endorsement.  As a result, we have enjoyed unprecedented growth in our client base over the past twelve years.

Nicholas Cotter - Director of Operations

Nicholas is the founder and driving force behind Mid Western Forestry Services, with extensive experience in all facets of the forestry business.  Nicholas specialises in developing integrated business investment plans that optimize the total return achieved by the farmer/investor.  This almost invariably includes incorporating forestry into a total financial plan that takes into account the persons other interests and options.

Tim Cotter - Director of Finance

Tim is a chartered accountant and previously worked as an audit manager with PriceWaterhouseCoopers – the largest professional services’ organization in the world.  He has been involved for several years with Mid Western Forestry Services.  Specialising in taxation and financial planning, his expertise has been key to ensuring that our all our clients get the very best taxation and investment advice as part of our comprehensive service

Bernard Kiernan B.AgrSc (Forestry)

A farmers son from Westmeath undertook his degree in forestry in the University of Bangor, North Wales from where he came to work for the company on his practical year in 2001. He is now with the company seven years and has brought with him a wealth of knowledge and experience from his work experience in the UK,  America, France and Finland. He has also worked on urban and amenity projects in Ireland and now specializes in forest establishment and maintenance.

Paul Neville B.AgrSc (Forestry)

Paul completed his degree in forestry in the University of Bangor, North Wales and graduated with honours. From Croagh in Co Limerick, he is a farmers son and began working for the company in 2002. He is a qualified forester of many years’ experience.  His practical exposure includes urban forestry, forestry establishment and forestry maintenance. His wide ranging experienced has been developed and refined both in Ireland and the UK

Bernard Carey B.AgrSc (Forestry)

Bernard is also from a farming background and undertook his forestry degree in UCD. He has extensive experience in both the public and private sectors. His broad base of expertise - from forestry research and landscaping through nursery work and forestry inventory to forestry establishment and maintenance - is a significant asset.
